Do you have food anxiety?

It’s something that possibly every dieter has experienced at some point in the process, even if you don’t realize it!

Here are some signs that you may have a bit of food anxiety.
- Obsessive calorie counting.
- You consider certain foods “good” or “bad”.
- You feel “guilty” after meals.
- You feel like you have to eat everything in front of you.
- You stress about eating at certain times.
- You worry about not being able to control what you eat.

Those are just a few examples, but there are some proven ways to manage your anxiety and end the stress around food!

One option is to simply ditch the restrictive diet. Yes, sticking to a plan is essential for reaching any fitness goal HOWEVER if you’re on a plan that has you stressed about food or has you feeling unsatisfied, ditch it, find a new plan or talk to your trainer about switching things up!

In some severe cases you may have to practice reverse dieting. Reverse dieting means you actually have to eat your “fear foods” all the time. For example if you get major stress around eating pizza, you gotta eat that damn pizza. Eventually after consistently facing your stress around these foods, they won’t seem like such a big deal and you can carry on eating well while still enjoying yourself.

I’m not saying to throw in the towel and start eating everything in sight if you feel a little guilty for slamming down pizzas and drinking two bottles of wine every night.

A little guilt and discipline is necessary when you’re changing your food habits but just be aware that food anxiety does exist and can be managed!
