5 Things You Need to Lose Weight and Get Lean

Information about weight loss can get a little crazy and it can leave you doing endless amounts of cardio and not eating eggs or bananas for no reason. I wrote these 5 rules for losing lbs or just getting lean to see more definition! 

1. Creating a calorie deficit

Create a deficit through diet and exercise. There are 3500 calories in one pound so if your goal is to lose up to two pounds per week you will have to create a deficit amounting to -500 calories per day of the week from your current consumption and expenditure. Simply put, subtract 250 from your daily calories and then burn about 250 calories during your workout for 6 days a week until you reach your goal weight! It’s science.

2. Strength Training

Strength training is an amazing tool for shedding inches and leaning out Although muscle weighs more than fat, strength training will change your body composition and give you that leaner look that you want. No it will not make you bulky, end of story.

3. Consistency 

Consistency is key. Find a diet and exercise program that fits your specific goals and lifestyle. Yes you are making a change to your lifestyle however you shouldn’t have to stop doing everything else just for your food and workouts. If you set unrealistic expectations you’ll end up driving yourself crazy and possibly developing eating or exercising disorders. Trust me you don’t want any of that to have to fight through on top of trying to reach your goals.

4. Time

Time Time Time. Get any stories you’ve heard of rapid weight loss out of your brain because that shit isn’t real...and if it is, you’re not getting the full story. Everybody is different so never compare yourself so someone who may be making more progress quicker than you. Be realistic about your time frame and make sure you’re on a program that will get you there!

5. Attitude

Yes attitude...you bet your ass you’ll need it and I’m not just talking about the positive mindset, I’m talking about finding your stride in your newfound lifestyle, feeling confident and healthy AF and OWNING THAT SHIT.
